Wednesday

Jonny finished reading Wicked and it was 406 pages. Now he is on page 12 of Blood is the Sky. The book is telling how to make a log cabin.

Today Jonny listened to the parsha discussion for Tzav.

His lap top died. So he bought a new one.

Jonny is working on a data warehouse. He is moving data from Sybase to Oracle. One table at a time. The goal is to get 15 tables over there so the data can be queried.

Angelina started working again. She isn't supposed to be driving for another 2 months. She had a physical therapy appointment and it ran over. It will take them 2 hours to complete the initial processing. They only had 1 hour budgeted for this.

Thursday

Angelina called on 10/25/2010. And here is what she said. "The bank is slow." Jonny wrote down that he forgot his chapstick. Later on he wrote down "mortgage". Apparently Angelina was asking about the mortgage and the bank was slow to give her an answer about the mortgage. Then she said "cats are fighting" and she went on to tell Jonny that "dog digging".

Earlier that day Jonny and Angelina went to the credit union. Jonny signed the papers for the new loan. It is $397 per month for 5 years. It will pay off $21,000 in debt.

This week is the parsha chaya sara. Some people say that the akada killed sara. Other questions from this week's reading are, "Why did Eliazer swear instead of yitzak?

Later on Jonny realized that Angelina told him there is wind and trees are falling.

On 10/26/2010 Jonny cleaned his bathroom of Hotel Hilton. But he forgot to put hair gel in his hair before heading to work. Then he realized he needed cleaning supplies. So he wrote a note to the janitor to give him more cleaning supplies.

Also on that day he missed Lorraine's doctor appointment. The appointment was at the Hotel California, so Jonny could have easily gone to it. But the night before Lorraine was crying, "Dad you simply can't go to my appointment, I don't need two moms."

Later that day Angelina called the help desk for the school. The computers for her class were all messed up. The culprit it turns out is Windows 7.

Friday

Last night Jonny was supposed to meet Ryan Williams. But Ryan went to the wrong bar. Or you could say Jonny went to the wrong bar. Either way Jonny stayed and waited from 4:15 to 4:45 for Ryan to show up. He read a few pages of Wikinomics.

When Jonny got home he found Lorraine with a hair brush stuck in her hair. Annabella Sciorra and Annabella's mother were there too. They couldn't unstuck the hair. Jonny did it quickly with a screwdriver.

Next Jonny screwed around on the computer. So poor Babs the dog didn't get walked. Then Lorraine worked really hard on making the dinner around when Angelina arrived. She was home late because she was working.

Earlier this morning Kristina Krofft left a message on Jonny's work voice mail. She was reminiscing about the birth of Richard Ziman.

All day Jonny's head has hurt. It is feeling light headed because of lack of sleep.

Life is good

Life is good but it has been 8 days since Jonny's last blog post.

Today Angelina called Jonny at work. This was no different than any other day. Jonny took notes so he could write about it in his blog.

She will be teaching a class off the main campus. Angelina explained in her latest phone call that she will be checking out how to precisely get to the satelite campus. This will happen when she gets her haircut near the off campus location.

Today Angelina is working in Brighton as a clerk. So Angelina put Jonny in charge of the kids. After work he has to buy dinner and get Jesse to do his homework.

Angelina also complained about the shower caddy. She said it isn't sticking to the wall as it is supposed to do.

As a good Jew Jonny is quite annoyed at all these church adds running around. They are on billboards and city buses too. If you seen them you would know they are the ones talking about lying.

Monday

This weekend coming up is Yom Kippur. So there is no chumash to study again this week. It is almost Sim Chat Torah. That is the holiday to celebrate the end of the Torah reading cycle. Today Jonny took some honey cake with him for breakfast to work. He is now up to page 100of a very exciting book that Lorraine picked out. Alberta had a three game, two day tournament for soccer in Lansing. Jesse is still fighting reading. Angelina hurt her toe on all the hoarded stuff on the stairs. And therefore she called in sick and didn't work for the flu clinic over the weekend. Jonny is reading The Great Divide by Frank M. Robinson and John F. Levin. Some of the grass that Jesse and Jonny planted a week ago started to grow this weekend. The reason Jonny had honey cake is because it is a sweet new year. The book is about civil war in the United States. The war is caused between the West and the East fighting over oil. It has the same style of horror and politics as Deception Point. For lunch today Jonny had a cornbeef sandwich on rye. Angelina and Jonny watched an episode of Criminal Minds last night that they hadn't seen before. They also watched and episode they had seen before.

Thursday

As usual Jonny is mighty busy at work.

This week is the parsha of Eikev. Last week was Va'etchanan.

As a good Jew Jonny watched part of the movie Exodus. He is also reading the book that goes with said movie. Last night Jonny dropped Alberta off at the JCC so she could attend an annual Ann Arbor event including Israeli scouts.

Jonny finished a book. More like it was a book on tape. More like it was a book on CD. The book was unlike any other John Grisham books. It wasn't about lawyers and it wasn't set in Tennessee or New Orleans or some place south. The book was called Playing for Pizza. As usual it is time to look up the AMAZON results for the said book.

In other movie news Jonny watched the movie The Conflict. It was not a Jewish movie.

Jonny painted the side of the house. This was because the fish burned. The burnt fish put soot from the grill on the siding. The fish got burnt because Angelina was depressed about not getting any classes to teach in the Fall. So they burnt the fish by mistake, they got distracted.

Over the weekend Alberta went to a two day sleepover. She called it a Shabbaton. Right before he took her they almost lost power. There have been a lot of storms this month.

Well back to work even though it is late.

Mood is a good one

For Jonny the mood was a good one. He was happy and jolly on the bus and in the lunch room. Then boom the after lunch coffee and the after lunch lulls. He feels kinda groggy now because he had what Angelina calls "her 20 minutes". Jonny woke up around 1:45. He got right back into programming ASP.NET. He hasn't done anything else today. No other data entry tasks. He has no plans to go to Red Hawk. Jonny went there on Friday and had two Great Lakes beers. Jonny also went there on Tuesday. But right about now he is running out of money. Today it was too cold in the morning to ride a bike to work. So he took the 8:17 #14 bus, which gets him late to work. Lorraine picked him out a new book. The book is called To Say Nothing of The Dog. And Jonny is on page 40. Cell phone. It was Angelina of course. She was calling to complain about her students. Over the weekend Jonny froze at Alberta's soccer game. Also over the weekend Jonny talked to Wendell. But Jesse got him off the phone before Wendell could wine too much about the beach or the Shenandoah. Tonight is a concert at Jesse's school. Again this week is a double parsha. So Jonny listened to Acharei. He didn't really pay that close attention. OK if Jonny were trying to hit more tags... Over the weekend Lucy the dog had a blow out. It smelled so bad so yep, he pulled out the cherry flavored scented candle. He played with that most of the morning. Today Jesse has a doctor visit at 3:20. This visit is for his hand. About two weeks ago, Jonny and Jesse were wood working. Has the splinter ever come out? During the week Angelina bought some lox, because she was in the mood for it. Even thought Jonny has been programming hard:

Jonny thinks his book has hidden English humor. He needs a laugh track to tell him when the jokes are being told. It starts slow like One Man Running did. Cell phone. Angelina wants to know how much texting will cost.

Monday

Jonny was real busy last week.

He finished a book. He finished reading The Zookeeper's Wife. This was 340 pages, including the details explaining the chapters. There were reading group discussion notes as well. Jonny is on page 327 of The DaVinci Code. So he plans to finish that book tonight.

Over the weekend he made brisket chili. It is super hot. No one else in the family will eat it.

This week there is a double parsha. Last week there was none. Last week was a repeat of Shemini. This week is both Tzaria and Metzora.

Jonny has been struggling to load software. He is in the midst of getting DbArtisan and Visual Studio.

The bookshelf is finished. It is 8 shelves 34 inches wide. Last night Lorraine helped load some books onto it.

VASE is running slow.

Angelina obtained a 20% discount one of Lorraine's camps.

Anglina wants to buy a portable DVD player. Jonny researched a nice Philips brand for her. They have them reconditioned at Best Buy for $69.99.

Angelina called because Jonny didn't fill up the cars with gas while she was away. It wasn't on his list. She also called to get his Trader Joe food order, but he was in Rob's staff meeting. Lea didn't show up for it. Jonny thinks sometimes he would have been better off to follow his mentor's example and skip the boring, heavily laden with network talk meeting.

Angelina's substitute tested out some students. So she is mad about that.

Tuesday

Angelina called Lyman to come over and help Jonny with his shelf again. Actually they needed him to pick up Annabella and to look at some electric work. In payment, one of the new beers that Angelina bought for Jonny was drunk. Jonny had the plum brandy instead because it was still Passover. And Jews can't drink beer on Passover.

Jonny fell asleep around 2PM today, thus the late post.

Jonny is up to page 233 of each of his books.

Angelina called earlier and she was upset about her class she is teaching. She also said that she was taking Jesse to the eye doctor. This was a regular check up.

April fools day

Today is a beautiful day outside. While inside Jonny has been reading books. He is up to page 170 of The DaVinci Code, DC. This is a very nice story. He is reading a book for the synagogue book club. He is up to page 186 of that book. The Zookeeper's Wife, ZK, is a sad book about the holocaust. Jonny is up to chapter 21. He will finish it long before the reading group meeting in 4 weeks.

Because of Passover, Jonny felt like not eating lunch yesterday. For dinner he had brisket. For lunch he had gefilte fish. For dinner tonight he is having brisket. For lunch tomorrow, brisket. Tuesday night Angelina reheated the brisket and served it for dinner. It was originally cooked over the weekend. Since she teaches and substitute teaches, she is too busy working to cook during the week.

Office 2007 now works properly on Jonny's PC at work. He forgot his iron key. But now he con consolidate all the fake name spreadsheets and back up copies.

Occasionally Jonny will take notes while talking to Angelina on the phone. Today's notes:

• what will Alberta do for 10 days while she is off,

weird corned beef dream

Jonny had a dream about corned beef. Lyman's wife was making lunch for Jonny. She was going to make grilled bacon sandwiches. But Jonny had better ideas. He had just gone to Hiller's grocery and purchased a small 1/4 lb of Boar's Head corned beef. So he said, here take this for the lunch too. But leave me 3 or 4 slices for my lunch another time. Then he began to think, why didn't I buy 1/2 lb instead of a mere 1/4 lb of this delicious delicatessen meat.

Jesse and Jonny went to the hardware store.

Jonny spoke to Kristina.

Alberta and Jonny went to a double header soccer game in Wixom.

The weekend went by fast. It was all a blur.

At the Hotel Hilton, Jeremey turned down an full-time position. Beverly was given the option and she took it. the Two of them are in the hotel, but so quiet, Jonny almost feels alone at times.

Jonny is up to Chapter 7 of The DaVinci Code. He is up to Chapter 8 of The Zookeeper's Wife. Jonny is listening to The Cat Who Smelled A Rat, with headphones. He watched two episodes of Scrubs last night. Angelina and Jonny watched Without A Trace. She has been too busy with her class to watch much TV.

This week in the chumash, Jonny listened to Tzav. The question of the day is why not speak directly to Aaron?

Angelina called, one of many times. She got in trouble with Jesse's teacher. The teacher was upset with Angelina, because she read in the classroom incorrectly. Angelina was supposed to get in depth with the characters.

confused about the parsha

Things are a bit hectic here. Jonny was a bit confused about the parsha. Hw was listening to a bible lecture. But in Judiasim it is called the weekly torah parsha drash. The funny thing is he listens to it twice a week, so it sinks in one hour on Monday and then again on Wednesday. On Friday Jonny hears the chanting version in Hebrew. At the end of the chanting Jonny figured out that he was a week behind. So now he is listening to this week's called Vayikra again now.
This is the parsha where the alpha and the other letters according to midrash have a discussion. The alpeh in Vayirka is small too.

Jonny is only up to chapter 6 of The DaVinci Code. So he really on page 33 not page 50. But he really wanted to listen to The Cat Who Smelled a Rat. He is on CD 3 of that book.

Angelina called and her students are really giving her problems.

Jonny rode his bike today.

He is probably going to the Red Hawk again. Lucky pants, he found $3 in them. He only needs $5.60 plus tip for 2 milky stouts, in honor of March 17th of course.

vayakhel

Today Jonny listened to parsha vayakhel. Moshe gathered and spoke. This is a big deal because he did both. Other times he just spoke to the Israelites. But this time he not only spoke to them, but also gathered them together first. This also happened on the day after Yom Kippur. This was right after the Moshe brought out the second set of ten commandments. There are 39 things that you can't do on Shabbos. These are learned from this parsha. This is because the they are related to the building of the Mishkan. Each of the items required to build the Mishkan is also a forbidden on Shabbos item. Mitzryam made the Jews work hard. This is remembered at the time of the sabbath. The 39 things are called the Lamed Tes Melochome. An ant needs 1 1/2 pieces of wheat to live. The ant lives for 6 months. Yet an ant gathers about 300 pieces of wheat. Why does he do that because just in case the almighty were to grant him the right to live, he would be ready. The men and the women came together to donate to the mishkan.

Earlier today Angelina called. She was complaining that Jesse was late for school. Jonny and Jesse had to walk to school. This was because Angelina was working and couldn't do the rushing him off to school task.

Over the weekend, Jesse had science olympics. He also had futsol, art class and swim class.

Jonny hasn't started a new book.

He went to the doctor on Monday for his annual physical checkup. He wasn't really in the mood to be there, because he just wanted to go back to sleep and take a super long nap. Well at first his blood pressure was 141 over 96. But after sitting in the cold quiet room in a gown for 15 minutes, it dropped. She took his reading and it was 115 over 73. During the science olympics his pulse was 48. But that was self taken. He might have missed a beat.

cleaning

Today Jonny was cleaning the bathroom of the Hilton Hotel. He looked in the mirror and decided it was time to get out the Gleam. He had just finished shaving.

Earlier it was snowing. It didn't take long for the first sirens to go off this morning. Jonny was walking Lucy. The sidewalks were icy and the ice was covered by snow. If he forgot where the frozen puddles were then he might slip.

Last night he and Angelina were unable to watch TV. None of the shows were recorded. Two nights ago they watched the last Cold Case episode. Over the weekend they watched the other Cold Case episode. They also so Without A Trace. Criminal Minds is a repeat tonight. They have the DVR set for Sunday and Monday night for more old runs of Without A Trace.

This week's parsha was Tezaveh. Jonny listened to the RG version two days in a row. The scholars say this is the first parsha without Moshe. This happens because Moshe says take me out of your book. What happened was that G-d was upset with the Israelites because of the incident with the Golden Calf. Moshe said if you will punish them then I don't want to be a part of your Torah. Since Moshe was only a little bit joking about that, this parsha is the pay back for that empty gesture. It is like ok here is what it feels like to not be a part of the Torah. Moshe's name is mentioned in every single section of the Torah from Moshe's birth to his death.

Jonny is up to page 258 of The Hunting Wind. Last night while helping Angelina with preparation for her class she is teaching, he was playing with his candle. He is still trying to recycle that last little bit of red spicy ?flavor? A candle has a scent not a flavor but that is how it goes.

Tuesday

Another sleepy Tuesday.

Branden just went out for lunch. Jonny turned up the heat.

Wendell gave Jonny a whole bunch of grief. He wants Jonny to visit at the beach. Same old stuff. Then he got in a big fight with Angelina.

Over the weekend they went to Palm Palace for dinner.

Jonny and Alberta went to the UM basketball game. UM lost to Northwestern. Then they went to Sunday minyan.

Angelina is teaching three classes now. Lorraine helped dress up her power point presentation.

Jonny gave Jesse an old 486 computer. Some guys at work said they might have a sound card. This is because it isn't working very well.

Well Jonny is getting back to Sybase and VB.NET.

As soon as Branden gets back Jonny is going to pass out. He needs to sleep while Branden is over on his side of the partition.

Jonny is up to page 528 now of The Eight.

He listened to Torah gems Va'eira yesterday. Also yesterday he watched some BCS bowl games, pre-recorded. But he fell asleep at midnight in front of the TV.

Wednesday

Beverly and Branden were at the Hilton Hotel when Jonny arrived late. His headached so badly this morning that he drifted off to sleep before lunch. Maybe today he will stay an hour late. But Angelina has to approve it. Wendell called this morning while Jonny was walking Lucy. It was a short call. Wendell uninvited Jonny to Elizabeth's house in Florida. It was too short of a visit if Jonny could only fly Friday to Monday. There are many activities in Angelina's household that would have prevented such a trip. Wendell asked if Jonny could come for a week to the beach in the summer. Jonny said he would keep after Angelina about it.

Today he listened to the parsha Vayigash. It starts with Benjamin getting framed by Joseph. Judah forfeits his share in the world to come. The jews are put into Goshen a jewish suburb. The divine spirit only rests on a happy person. They remained in Egypt for 210 years. This is calculated. Moses was 80 years old when he left Egypt. Moses's mother was 130 years old when Moses was born. She was born at the time of the exile to Egypt. Two kingships descend from Judah and Joseph. Joseph asks is my father still alive when he reveals himself to his brothers. Why does he ask this question? There are at least 4 different answers to this question why was it asked.

Angelina was working at the flu clinic and Jonny watched the kids. The coffee pot got broken. Today Angelina called and ordered a new free one.

New officemate

Nope Jonny didn't fall in from the dentist appointment. He has several cracked teeth. He doesn't floss correctly. He didn't feel like flossing for a whole day after the appointment.

Here in Hotel Hilton, the place just got more crowded. In addition to Jonny and Branden there is now Beverly Polcyn. She is a volunteer. She works in the finance department same as Branden. So now there are three people in the office instead of just one.

Jonny is up to page 320 of The Eight.

Angelina just called. Jonny's list is growing. Angelina is going out tonight. She is working and won't be home till 8:30. She also said that Jesse broke the chair. The toilet needs to be tightened. She signed up for the Chinese food dinner at the temple.

Jonny has to get back to his SQL SERVER coding. He is working on the machine log program again. From now on Lea is banned from it. She is more trouble than she is worth. Plus she complains about the users. That isn't a good trait to have in programming.

Yesterday Lea, Jonny and Rob went out to lunch. Plus Rob paid for all of them and the other workers in the groups, there were 5 other team members. They went to Macaroni Grill. Jonny had a chicken ceasar salad. This wasn't exactly kosher but not as bad as beef and milk. The lunch was roughly 3 hours long. Last night Jonny built a shelf. Lorraine insisted it would help organize Jesse's room. It took 1.5 hours to build a small shelf.

Alberta is in big trouble for bad mid-term grades.

Friday

Right now Jonny is sleepy and listening to the last two aliyahs of the weekly parsha chanting.

Jonny's friend Laurence Mason just lost his mother. She was quite ill. Laurence's mom was dying at home. She wasn't eating or speaking. The funeral is on Monday. Jonny made the mistake of calling Laurence to confirm their Saturday night drinking plans. Laurence was in the middle of making the funeral arrangements. So Laurence left a message on Jonny's cell phone. They both have Verizon so that is nice.

Today Jonny called Laurence. Jonny was waiting for the bus. He was going home at lunch time on the #4. This is because of Lucy the dog. Apparently this falls under the label working wife. Over the weekend the working wife Angelina is clerking for an early morning flu clinic. She will be teaching a class at the same college Jonny teaches at in just 5 weeks. Don't start counting the money yet it is only 1/6 of as much teaching as Jonny does.

Jonny is sleepy because of that stupid cat Graser. Last night he watched Criminal Minds. He watched it by himself. That is because Angelina watched it over Thanksgiving with her step-mother. That is nice she gets along with Sandra Bullock. Sometimes people don't like their step- mother's. She gets along better with her than with the ailing Wanda Lee Evans. Her mother is not even walking. She is in a rehab facility. For some reason the phsyical therapy doesn't include walking on the foot. The foot is what caused all the problems.

Jonny is up to page 60 of The Eight. The book is progressing nicely. He is happy Penny gave it to him. She has been causing Jonny major stress, every time she writes and email.

Also this weekend is Kristina Krofft and Wendell Pierce's 42 wedding anniversary. It happened about 7 months before Jonny was born. Jonny sent his parents an ecard. They were quite happy.

Tuesday

Wow 735 posts already. Ever get the feeling you want to blog and then when you finally get to -- nothing?

Well today Jonny broke his flosser. He also ran out of tooth paste.

It is about 50 degrees and sunny outside, but it feels more like 40. Fortunately Jonny caught the bus this morning rather quickly. He missed one. But by the time he crossed the street he was just in time for another one. The number 4 bus is similar to the Sponge Bob episode when the main character SB is waiting for a bus. When he goes across the street to buy a candy bar they all come.

Yesterday Jonny listened to the Breshis. Rabbi Grossman was talking about Carbons. That is a Hebrew work for sacrifices. In this parsha Cain kills Abel. The foreshadowing of this even is the sacrifices the brothers brought to G-D. This parsha is of course the first one of the Torah. That is because last week Simchat Torah was celebrated. Jonny's family didn't go to the celebration Saturday night. They barely had time for dinner.

Alberta hurt her knee over the weekend from too much soccer. And Angelina is complaining about getting a therapy appointment for her.

Jonny finally finished watching the Minnesota Viking - Green Bay Packers Monday Night Football game. Brett Farve, not only led his team to victory he also got another record. He is the only player to have beaten, all 32 teams in the NFL. This wasn't possible until he left the Packers.

Today Angelina was working in the flu clinic. Jonny took Alberta, Lorraine and two other neighbor kids on the 1/2 mile drive to middle school. Later he took Jesse on the 1/2 mile drive to elementary school. Then he parked his car and caught the bus.

Jonny just got off the phone with Angelina. She said she just got back from the store. As usual, she knows everything. She knows exactly what is going on and when it is going on. Angelina plans to give Jonny a schedule of everything that is happening this weekend.

Right now she says she is starting to get a cold. Angelina has a physical therapy appointment and she isn't happy about it. She is too sweaty to go there. She just walked Jesse to school. So she said she got enough exercise. As usual Angelina is mad at Alberta. She says the child doesn't lift a finger to help.

She has a flu clinic appointment all week. So that is good but. She is complaining that she doesn't get a schedule. A schedule is what she calls what most normal people would call, enough advance notice. Apparently Angelina has her own lingo for just about everything that the rest of the world would explain in a different way. Of course, a lot of her vocabulary spills off to Jonny.

Last night the two of them watched TV. They saw the 2009 season premier episode of Criminal Minds. And this episode didn't get wrapped up. It was itself a cliff hanger from the end of the 2008 season.

Yesterday Jonny was at a picnic. So he missed most of work and was unable to blog.

Jonny rode his bike 16 miles yesterday. He took the bus today. His boss rode the same bus with him. The bus was so crowded it was standing room only. When Rob and Jonny got to work, Jonny went to the cafeteria to get a plastic fork.
